SELKIES: The selkies are marines creatures that looks human but can turn into seals by wearing their seal skin. The legend originated from Orkney and Shetland islands. The word Selkie comes from Scotland where the word for seal is Selch/Selkie.
The male selkie can creates stormes and sink ships, the reason they do that is for avenging the hunting of seals.
The Loch Ness Monster (Nessie): Nessie is one of the most famous Scottish legend, it lives in the depths of the Loch Ness which is located in the Highland of northern Scottland. Nessie (as some may call it) is a 12-15 m long snake-like creature, it bears a long neck. Some believes Nessie to be a female.
Robert the Bruce and the spider: Robert was the king of Scottland in 1306. When he became the king of Scottland Edward I of England forced him into hiding. So Robert hid himself in a cave. In the cave he watched a spider spinning a web from one part of the cave to the other. The fact that the spider tried again and again to make her web before
succeding at last inspired Robert to try to defeat the English. He finally succeded in 1314.
The legend of Sawney Bean: The legend of Sawney Bean is one of the most horrific Scottish legend. To this day it's still unknown if Alexander 'Sawney' Bean was a real person or a creation of Scottish folklore. According to the myth Sawney Bean was the head of a criminal, cannibalistic family in the 15th century.It's believed that him and his family killed and fed over a thousand people before being captured and executed.
Wulver: The Wulver is a creature that have the body of a human but a wolf's head. It's reportedly know to left fishes on the windowsills of poor families. The creature is a werewolf in Shetland.
Blue Men of Minch: The Blue Men of Minch are blue-skinned creatures who are living under the water, more precisely between Lewis and mainland Scotland. These monsters are known to lure sailors into the water and creates storms to wreck ships,
Bean-Nighe: Bean-Nighe is the Scottish name for 'washer woman', this legend is about a Scottish fairy who is an omen of death. It is said that this woman can be found washing the clothes of those who are about to die by streams and pools.
Brownie:
Brownie is an invisible brown elf or an household goblin. This creature live mostly in farmhouse in Scotland. While people are sleeping they perform their labors for them, they are known as good-natured and protective creatures, Brownies can also be attached to a place and a family. If the family move to another place the Brownies will accompany them.
If they are trated badly by the family they will disappear forever.
Boobrie:
Boobrie is a water-bird of Scottish Highland folk belief. This creature haunts lakes and salt wells.
Shellycoat:
The Shellycoat is a Scottish bogeyman who haunts rivers and streams. This creature is covered by shells, these shells rattle when he moves which annonce his presence. He likes misleading people and putting them on the wrong track. But this creature is pretty harmless and playful.
